    Transformational Education

General Education (Gen Ed) is central to Baruch College’s mission. Our Gen Ed curriculum courses shape the experience that the College offers all of our undergraduate students, pursuing a degree in the Zicklin School of Business, the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, or the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. These courses reflect the College’s commitment to the ideal of education as a transformation of the whole person through studying the arts and sciences.

    Pathways at Baruch

Students who enter Baruch beginning in fall 2013 follow Pathways at Baruch. Pathways at Baruch shares a structure and a set of requirements, but not necessarily courses, with all CUNY colleges. The structure includes a required core, a flexible core, and a “college option.”

Re-entry students: Students who entered Baruch before fall 2013 but who will be returning after more than one semester away from the college will follow Pathways at Baruch. (Those away for only one semester will follow the Baruch Common Core.)

    Baruch Common Core

Students who entered Baruch before fall 2013 follow the Baruch Common Core. The Baruch Common Core includes introductory courses in a variety of disciplines in the arts and sciences (Tiers I and II) and requires students to minor in a single area in the liberal arts (Tier III). Please refer to the 2010-2013 Undergraduate Bulletin for details.
